Robert Spottswood Therapist

Robert Spottswood, M.A., LCMHC, is currently director and care provider at North Star Counseling Services in Norwich, Vermont.  He has also done mental health work in Minnesota and Canada.

He has contributed chapters to two books about trauma and attachment work with children. One book is for therapists (Creating Capacity for Attachment: Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy in the Treatment of Trauma-Attachment Disorders), and the other is for parents/caretakers (Attachment Parenting).  He has co-authored a simple picture book — The Bean Seed — for children learning to trust adults again after maltreatment.

Robert has served on the boards of both ATTACh ( Association for Treatment and Training in Attachment of Children) and the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute (based on Dan Hughes’ model).  He is certified in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy as a clinician and consultant.  He provides relationship-focused therapy for families, and phone and video consultations for therapists who work with difficult child cases.
